Workin’ for the man…
This evening I attended a training session for potential Police Youth Support People at the local PCYC. Basically I’ll be on call if a young or ‘vulnerable’ person is arrested, and their parent or guardian isn’t available to sit in on their police interview, to make sure that the police are following the correct procedures, and that the young/vulnerable person is aware of their rights/responsibilities.
I’m not really sure how much good I’ll be, but if it means that the interview can go ahead, then hopefully a.) justice will be done swiftly; and b.) the young/vulnerable person can get out of the police station faster, and begin the rehabilitative process (in theory).
I finish my course at the end of this year, which feels like a long way off, yet also feels like it’s just a few short months away. I have very little idea of what I’ll be doing after that, so I’m hoping that God will allow me to get a bit of a clue, and continue preparing me for whatever it is.

way to go dude!
I’ve actually had a few thoughts about what I might be able to do next year… I’ll be keen to catch up soon and have a chat.
How’s being a full time vicar?
that sounds great Pete!
You know I found out the difference between a vicar and a rector the other day…
Apparently a vicar is under the charge of the bishop, and a rector (derived from the latin for “ruler”) isn’t under the charge of the bishop. Which, in practical terms means that if you’re a vicar you can be bossed around by the bishop, and if you’re a rector you can tell the bish to go jump…
All of which is only vaguely related to the question you asked… although, for the uniformed reader I would like to say for the record that I am neither a vicar or a rector…
Now, you’re question… things are good.
Loving working full time. Have more time to do ministry with with thought and purpose. Youth group is going gang busters and we’re fast out growing our room, which is both exciting and daunting.
I find my ministry experience is constantly one of : joy, fear, and trepedation.
And I’m loving it!
Man I wish we could hang out with you guys more, I feel like we’re missing out on stuff in your lives! This sounds awesome Pete and Mike, I’m so excited for you!
